My friends on the far left and the far right.....would you agree that any movement can move to far from center? Would you agree that in a well intentioned zeal for world peace people sometimes ignore something far more important - inner peace. World peace can only be achieved one person at a time.
Would you also agree that the governments main source of power and control is ultimately force? How many people would pay their "fair share" of taxes if they knew the government wouldn't come after them if they didn't? You know who would? The people who truly believed in helping others. You know who wouldn't? People who really believed they could be saved by someone or something outside themselves. (Notice I didn't say Democrats or Republicans - Please don't go there!)
Ideas do matter. If you hold the belief that something outside of your own spiritual journey can save you, what motivation do you have to save yourself and create change in your own life?
Are you really being charitable if you present yourself as a savior to others when you know that they can only find peace and prosperity by looking within?
