Captain Capitalism

If you didn't notice I have removed the link to Captain Capitalism's blog. It is not that I don't think you should read this guys blog, he seems a very gifted economist. You should also buy his book. It is funny, well written and informative.

However, I disagree with his general attitude of towards deadbeats. There is no need to judge others so harshly. It accomplishes nothing. Again, I am not saying you shouldn't read his blog. There is often great insight and analysis on it. I just don't necessarily want a link to it on my site.

Happy New Year!

I haven't been writing much lately partly due to the busy Holiday season, and partly due to a bit of melancholy. I still wanted to wish anyone who is crazy enough to read this blog regularly a Happy New Year.

I am not so unwise as to be ungrateful for the many blessings in my life. Lately, though, I feel a sort of sadness is engulfing this country, and I am no exception. The recession is going to be horrible. My neighbors house is in foreclosure. More and more people are losing their jobs. Every time I look at the news it seems there is more bad news. The Middle East is becoming increasingly unstable. The U.S. is going broke. And it goes on and on.

Perhaps this is why they call Depressions just that. They are truly depressing. So I keep trying to change my mindset. I keep telling myself to remain grateful and hopeful. And I am. I am thankful for my family and friends, the roof over my head, health....even snow. I am not losing my house. My husband and I have jobs and plenty of money. But I just can't feel that energy of gratitude I am usually in touch with.

I am going to find it, I will. Maybe I will do a google search on gratitude. Just kidding. Anyway, if you have had a rough year, like so many Americans, I hope this New Year is happier for you! I know in my heart we are here on Earth to share our love, gratitude, and joy.

So, on that note, I will go spend a little time with the family, do a little yoga, and pray a bit. Pray for the courage to live in gratitude, so the next time I write I can share that spirit with you.

Isn't Israel Our Ally?

OK, maybe I am crazy, but the last time I checked we were at war. The last time I checked men and women who bravely serve this country were dying in Iraq and Afghanistan. I think the idea is maybe that they were doing this so WE WOULDN'T HAVE TO.

Look, I was not in support of our invasion of Iraq. I think it was a strategic error that cost many lives and depleted time, manpower and money from our real mission of defeating Islamic Extremism around the globe. That said, our President, Congress, and intelligence agencies decided otherwise. I am to this day blown away by the arrogance of Liberals who say they know how to better fight Islamic extremism. Or worse, they say it doesn't exist. It is not a threat. George W. and his cronies were just trying to scare us. According to some of these wackos, the Bush administration actually perpetrated 9/11.

Yet, stupid me, I have the audacity to turn on CNN, which I have now labeled the "Crap News Network", and torture myself with PROPAGANDA about how the evil Jews are oppressing the Palestinians. I am not Jewish, so far as I know, but I feel Jewish tonight. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP CNN is spewing.

Hamas, a militant political terrorist organization which has denied Israel's right to exist and vowed to destroy it through military violence is getting treated with kid gloves by American media. I am crying - I am literally crying.

Hamas, who has launched more than 110 rockets onto Israel's soil since Saturday, is the good guy? What is Israel supposed to do?

I have one question to ask you: If tomorrow, Hamas recognized Israel's right to exist and quit launching rockets at Israel, would the conflict end, or would Israel invade Gaza? Sleep on that.
